You Need More Than Just Weight Loss Surgery

Believe it or not, not everyone who has weight loss surgery like the Lap-Band loses the amount of weight they want to lose. Some people don't lose much weight at all. They assume that all they need is a weight loss procedure, and the weight loss will magically occur.
They assume they don't have to exercise and can still eat whatever they want. Weight loss can only occur and be maintained with a complete and permanent lifestyle change. Are you ready to make that change?

  • Can you see yourself as you will be, instead of who you are right now? This does not mean that you should hate yourself, but you should be able to see an improved and healthier you in your future. If you cannot perceive it, you will never achieve your weight loss goal.

  • One of the most addictive habits to break when you're trying to lose weight is watching the scale every single day. Scales aren't perfect, and they can't take things like fluid retention into account when measuring your achievements. Weigh yourself once a week or every two weeks. Who needs a scale anyway? If you suddenly have more room in your pants than you used to or if you can fit in pants you haven't worn in years, then you're losing weight.

  • Don't rush your progress. You're not going to lose the weight as rapidly as you would like to, and you're not going to use it where you want to lose it. Stick with it, and our body will balance itself out the way it should be.

  • Personal trainers are great, but they don't know you. They know what they learn from classes. Just because they want you to do knee crunches daily, that doesn't mean you should do knee crunches daily. Maybe knee crunches are painfully intolerable to you. Work hard but do what you enjoy. If you love walking and movies or music, walk while listening to music or walk while watching movies on a treadmill. This is also a person who may be willing to try out some of those new, healthy recipes you have been contemplating. It's always good to have a willing taster.

  • No man can be a success if he cannot find some type of reward even when his goals are not achieved. Set small goals that lead to a great goal. This way, you will always have a reason to reward yourself. As long as you believe you deserve the best, you will strive to be the best, and you will be.
